Guesthouse Policies

When is the check-in time?

Check-in time is from 15:00 until 20:00.

Can I check in before 15:00?

Arrivals before 15:00 are always on request and subject to availability, but we will do our best to accommodate your request. Please make sure to contact us before your arrival date to ensure a smooth check-in.

Can I leave my luggage if the room is not ready before 15:00?

Yes, you are welcome to leave your luggage with us until the rooms is ready. Meanwhile, we will do our best to prepare your rooms sooner and offer you an earlier check-in.

Can I arrive after 20:00?

Generally, it is not possible to check-in after 20:00. Exceptionally, we might be able to arrange a later check-in but it is subject to availability and enough advance notice (at least 24 hours). Please contact us before making a reservation to inquire whether it is possible to retrieve the keys after 20:00. All requests must be confirmed by us.

When is the check-out time?

Check-out time is until 11:00. However, if you need a later check-out, contact us before arrival, or during your stay, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. If a later check-out should not be possible, you are welcome to leave your luggage at reception and retrieve it at a later time.

Can I smoke in the room?

Smoking inside any establishment is prohibited in Slovenia according to the legislation act Restriction on the Use of Tobacco and Related Products Act (Zakon o omejevanju uporabe tobačnih in povezanih izdelkov – ZOUTPI (Uradni list RS, št. 9/17 z dne 24. 2. 2017). Therefore, we ask guests to respect the fact that all our rooms are strictly non-smoking rooms. We reserve the right to charge an exceptional flat-rate cleaning fee of 100,00 EUR for smoking in our rooms.

Are pets allowed at your property?

Pets are allowed at our guesthouse at an extra charge of 10,00 EUR/pet/night.

Can I get an extra bed in the room?

The general occupancy is 1-2 persons per room. Extra beds for a third or fourth occupant are allowed only in the Double Room (surcharge applies), The Economy Double Room and Studio Apartments have no available extra space. Reservations of extra beds must be arranged before arrival and are only final when confirmed by our guesthouse.

Is my child entitled to a free stay or discount?

All children up to 2 years old stay free of charge when using the existing bedding or baby crib. All children from 3 to 12 years old pay an additional 25,00 EUR/night when using the existing bedding or an extra bed. Individuals above the age of 12 are considered adults by our guesthouse. An adult person in a room is charged 45,00 EUR/night for using an extra bed.

Do we have to pay extra if our child sleeps with us in the bed?

Children from 3 years old to 11 years old can stay for 25,00 EUR per child per night in existing bedding. Children 12 years old and over stay for 45,00 EUR per child per night in existing bedding.

Making a reservation

How do I make an online reservation?

Visit www.galeriariver.com and insert your desired dates of arrival and departure, and the number of rooms (the number of adults and children can be selected in the next step). Then follow the steps as displayed on the screen. After successfully completing your reservation, you will receive an e-mail confirming your reservation.

I have made a reservation but didn’t receive any confirmation.

Please contact us immediately in order to check if your reservation was processed correctly. You can contact us by calling our Front Desk at +386 40 462 099 or sending us an e-mail at info@galeriariver.com.

How can I confirm my reservation?

Reservations can be confirmed by entering your credit card details for a pre-authorisation or by paying an advance as a guarantee of arrival.

Am I required to enter my credit card details to book a room on your website?

Yes. A credit card number is required to book a room at our guesthouse. For your security, the credit card number will be encrypted before being transmitted over the internet.

I’m having trouble making an online reservation. Is there a number I can call for help?

I can’t complete my reservation because the website keeps processing it endlessly. What should I do?

It is very likely that our system is not able to process your credit card due 3DSV or 3DSV2 security protocols. Please contact your credit card provider or home issuing bank to check if there are any limitations for online authorisations or if your credit card supports 3DSV or 3DSV2 security protocols.

Why do I have to provide my credit card number during the reservation process?

To guarantee your reservation you will be asked for your credit card details to perform a pre-authorisation anytime before the arrival date. Pre-authorisation is a type of credit check. We use it to ensure that the credit card is valid and that there are sufficient funds to cover all or part of the reservation costs. With the pre-authorisation, the amount of the reservation is »held« as unavailable for a certain period. If you have chosen one of our non-refundable or pay-in-advance offers, your credit card will be charged for the entire amount when making the reservation.

My credit card is valid. Why can’t I complete my reservation?

Please check once again if all the data from your credit card have been correctly entered, and check the type of credit card. We accept only MasterCard, Visa and American Express. If all the data is correct, please contact your credit card provider or home issuing bank to check if there are any limitations for online authorisations or if your credit card supports 3DSV or 3DSV2 security protocols.

How can I book a room if I don’t have a credit card?

If you don’t have a credit card, we can alternatively prepare a pro forma invoice and send it to you via e-mail. In this case, the payment is made by bank transfer before your arrival. You can request a pro forma invoice by sending us an e-mail to info@galeriariver.com.

Changes, cancellations and payments

Can I cancel or change my reservation free of charge?

Whether you can change or cancel your reservation free of charge depends on the cancellation policy selected during the reservation process.

 

The cancellation policy is displayed when selecting the preferred room type and rate, and it is also included in the confirmation details of your reservation. Therefore, we kindly ask you to pay attention to the terms and conditions when making your booking as later exceptions/cancellations might not be possible anymore.

How can I change or cancel my confirmed reservation?

You can change or cancel your reservation by sending an e-mail to info@galeriariver.com.

What happens if I forget to change or cancel my reservation?

Unfortunately, if you fail to change or cancel your reservation on time, you will be charged the total amount of the reservation.

Can I pay when I arrive at your guesthouse?

During the reservation process you can select to pay upon arrival. Nevertheless, we will ask for your credit card details just to perform a pre-authorisation, which will guarantee your reservation. To learn more about pre-authorisations, please check our Guesthouse Policies.

Parking & other facilities

Can I reserve a parking space?

Because Galeria River is located in Ljubljana’s historical centre, a car-free zone, we do not own a parking area. However, parking is possible on the streets and parking spaces nearby.

Where can I park my car?

The nearest secured parking space is just 250 m away from Galeria River – NUK II. It is located on Emonska street by the Square Of The French Revolution, close to the National and University Library. Parking costs 1,20 EUR/hour (day tariff from 7h to 22h) and 1,80 EUR/night (night tariff from 22h to 7h).

 

Parking is also possible on the streets of Ljubljana. Grudnovo nabrežje is approximately 400m away from Galeria River, by the banks of the Ljubljanica river. It costs 0,50 EUR/hour/max 6 hours (day tariff from 7h to 19h) and, it is free on Saturdays and Sundays. If you will be parking on the streets, please do so only on white marked parking spots and not on the blue or yellow ones. Furthermore, please note that street parking does not allow full payment in advance, but has to be renewed every day.

Is there free parking?

There are no free parking options anywhere in the area.

Do we need to reserve a parking space at NUK II?

NUK II is public so no advance reservations are needed or even possible.

Can we stop in front of your guesthouse to leave the luggage?

You can stop shortly (max. 5-10 minutes) at the beginning of Breg promenade, 30 m from our building and entrance, to leave the luggage.

We have an electric car. Where can we charge it?

You can check the interactive map for nearby charging stations on the website Gremo an elektriko.

We are arriving by bus/train. Is there a transfer service from the main station?

We do not offer pick-up service from the station but you can call a taxi or we can call one for you. Please be careful not to take one of the taxis waiting in front of the station, as they tend to overcharge.

I saw you offer transfers. Can I reserve one from the bus/train station?

We offer only intercity transfers. If you require a transfer from the bus/train station, you can call a taxi or we can call one for you.

Do you offer airport transfers?

Yes, we offer airport transfers in collaboration with our partner Welcome Pickups. If you require a transfer from or to Ljubljana Airport, you can book it directly by clicking on this link.

 

As Galeria River’s reception hours are limited, please verify your scheduled arrival time and our policies regarding eventual late check-ins before booking a transfer.

How much does an airport transfer cost?

The general price is 47 EUR per way. However, the price may increase if you travel with more than 3 pieces of luggage.

 

For an exact estimate, we suggest that you go directly to our booking page, where you can insert the date and hour of the transfer, and the number of passengers and luggage pieces.

Can we store our bicycles?

We do not have a storage room for bicycles but they can be safely stored in the building’s hallway on the groudfloor. There you can lock your bicycles to stands.

We travel with high-end/expensive bicycles. Can we store them in our room?

It is neither possible (due to space limitations) nor allowed to store bicycles in our guestrooms.

Do all of your rooms offer a view of the river?

Of all room types only our Double Room with River View offers a view of the river and castle.

How can I find out what is included in the accommodation price?

After selecting the dates at www.galeriariver.com, you will find a detailed description of what is included in the price of the selected room. A detailed description is also included in the reservation confirmation e-mail that you receive after completing your reservation.
